Mattingly changes mind on catching …

Saw this sign on the sidewalk outside a bar on Third Street today.

Anyway, Don Mattingly said he no longer plans to pair Tim Federowicz with Clayton Kershaw tomorrow night. Mattingly originally wanted to do that just so the two of them could get comfortable with each other in case A.J. Ellis were to suffer an injury at some point that would force Kershaw to pitch with Fedex behind the plate. But Donnie said today that Ellis will catch tomorrow night.

“I told (Federowicz) yesterday that he was going two in a row,” Mattingly said. “But I kind of felt like I was planning on an injury, and I don’t like to do that. Kersh has been solid all year long, and I just decided I would stay with A.J. catching him tomorrow.”
