A Brian Wilson activation may be imminent

Brian Wilson was stretched out for the first time tonight, when he made the fourth appearance of his minor league rehabilitation assignment. Pitching for Triple-A Albuquerque against Salt Lake, Wilson was asked to get four outs, which he did on a total of 21 pitches while facing five batters. He came on to reliever Peter Moylan with two outs and nobody on in the seventh and got through the eighth.

You may see Wilson in a Dodgers uniform sooner than you thought. Manager Don Mattingly said earlier today that the original plan of wanting to see Wilson on back-to-back days and three days out of four — which he would accomplish if he were to pitch again on Wednesday — is no longer important. The fact Wilson was able to pitch, sit and then pitch again may be enough to tell club officials all they want to know.

Doubtful he would be activated for tomorrow’s game, but Friday night in Philadelphia wouldn’t surprise me.

  1. …this still makes my skin crawl.

  2. If he can pitch for us like he did for the Gnats, I don’t care about the beard. And, he keeps everyone loose. BRING HIM ON!

  3. Who will get bumped? I’m thinking Marmol, any thoughts?

  4. “He came on to reliever Peter Moylan with two outs and nobody on in the seventh and got through the eighth.”

That may be the greatest typo I’ve seen this year. What was Moylan’s response?
